The VulcanX Trading Competition is here, and the leaderboard is going to be rolled out live on Monday, 19 January. What’s VulcanX? It’s Vulcan Forged’s gamified centralized exchange! You can find it at vulcanx.exchange.

How the leaderboard works

Step 1 — Ranking score

Your Step 1 Score is calculated using a weighted blend of:

• Volume (USDC): 40%
• PnL (%): 25%
• XP: 35% (this is the XP you’ve already earned in Gamified Mode — there are no separate quests)

Because these are different metrics (USDC volume, % PnL, XP), the system scales each into comparable values first, then applies the weights above.

Step 2 — Reward score

Once ranks are finalised, rewards are distributed using a combination of:

• 70% based on your Step 1 Score
• 30% based on your leaderboard rank

Final Score = (Step 1 Score × 70%) + (Rank Score × 30%)

How We Determine Percentages

Wondering how the formula that determines what percentage of the pool each position gets works?

Step 1: We measure your activity

Each week, we track three metrics:

• Trading Volume — the total USDC value of your trades

• PnL — your profit and loss over the competition window

• Quest XP — the XP you’ve earned in Gamified Mode (daily/weekly activity)

Step 2: We normalise scores across the leaderboard

Because Volume, PnL and XP are different types of metrics, we scale them into comparable scores.
Your score in each category is calculated relative to other users during that week.

Step 3: We apply the scoring weights

Your Performance Score is calculated as:
Performance Score = (Volume × 40%) + (PnL × 25%) + (Quest XP × 35%)

Where:

• Volume = your total weekly volume

• PnL = your total weekly PnL

• Quest XP = your total weekly XP

Step 4: Rank bonus is applied

Once Performance Scores are calculated, users are ranked from #1 onward.
A Rank Bonus Score is then applied:

• Rank #1 receives the highest rank bonus

• Higher ranks receive larger bonuses

• The bonus decreases gradually down the leaderboard

Step 5: Final Score (used for rewards)

Your Final Score is calculated as:
Final Score = (Performance Score × 70%) + (Rank Bonus Score × 30%)

Step 6: Rewards distribution (Top 20%)

Only the top 20% of leaderboard participants qualify for rewards. Rewards are distributed proportionally from the reward pool (V) based on Final Score:

Your V Reward = (Your Final Score ÷ Total Final Scores of the Top 20%) × Total V Pool

(Example: if the total V pool is 133 V, your reward is your share of the Top 20% Final Score total, multiplied by 133.)

Rewards

• 20% of fees collected will be distributed to the top 20% of traders (not top 20 users)
• Eligibility requirement: Gamified Mode must be ON

Launch Boost (aka Your Jumpstart!)

To accelerate early participation, we will add 100% extra on top for winners during the initial rollout period.

Payout timing

• Leaderboard goes live Monday 19 January
• Next week we’ll process rewards, including fees collected so far

Fair play

VulcanX trading competition participation is subject to standard exchange rules. Any behaviour that breaches the platform’s terms (including manipulation and wash trading) may be reviewed and actioned.

How to take part

1. Log-in at VulcanX
2. Turn Gamified Mode ON
   
3. Trade as normal
   
4. Earn XP, build volume, and improve PnL
   
5. Place in the top 20% to receive rewards from the pool
